The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada funded the Screening Surveillance project: a trio of Creative Commons licensed short science fiction films about “everyday issues around big data and surveillance.” Definitely worth watching ! The movies run about 10 minutes each. We selected the “A Model Employee” for you, a scenario where a waitress in a restaurant gets tracked and rated by her employer. At night, she works as a DJ, but her tracking wristband feeds the performance dashboard of the restaurant owner. She tries to fool the system, but a new device upgrade means trouble.
