Fellow futurist David Houle and I spoke with Julian Treasure on his Sound Business Podcast and shared our perspectives on the technology behind the current wave of natural language applications and on how voice interfaces may impacts brands and organizations. We discussed the opportunities and threats of this new voice-based world and how we’re moving towards interfaces based on speaking and listening rather than typing.

In this talk I comment on how I believe AI technology is on the cusp of being as good as human understanding in terms of context, connotation, and semantics; and on the social-cultural changes we can expect as smart technology continues to advance. Understanding AGI (artificial general intelligence) and how we can avoid dehumanization as a possible side-effect.
